SEDUASE TOWNSHIP GET FIRST HEALTH FACILITY 

The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has commissioned a Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Seduase in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

The fully furnished functional and NHIS accredited CHPS compound is now able to provide preventive, and treatment services and refer patients to bigger health centers when the need arises.

In her brief remark at the commissioning, the First Lady and Head of the Rebecca Foundation said the project will offer yet another opportunity to invest in what she believes will make a difference in the lives of women and children to get the possible healthcare.

According to her, the burden of disease and premature deaths on the African continent and in particular our country could be prevented through the effective delivery of health services, therefore it is important that we reach citizens, especially those in hard to reach/rural areas with affordable basic health care.

She reiterated the Rebecca Foundation’s commitment to continue working with key stakeholders to ensure that women and children get the best possible healthcare and position them to fully contribute to our national development.

The Rebecca Foundation upon an appeal from the Municipal Assembly responded and furnished the entire project and provided the necessary medical equipment to fully operationalize the facility and make it fit for purpose in order to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Seduase.

Some of the items included a complete delivery set, hospital beds, and a generator as well as drugs and furniture for all the offices, wards and the out-patients department.

“I am also pleased that this facility is serviced by two community health nurses, a midwife, and a staff nurse. This will certainly ensure that the community will have the necessary complement of basic health services, especially for maternal and child health.” She disclosed.

The First Lady entreated all to support the government in the collective duty of making health care more accessible and available for all Ghanaians.

Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo called for a more compact partnership with all stakeholders Mrs. Akufo-Addo said health partners, the private sector, civil society organizations, religious and traditional authorities, and non-government organizations must all come together to build effective, responsive, fair and efficient health systems, to provide accessible services for our growing population.

In the area of education, the Rebecca Foundation donated 744 pairs of shoes, textbooks, exercise books and boxes of Ghanaian chocolate for the Seduase Basic School to help ease some burden facing the school.

On his part, Municipal Chief Executive of Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly, Mr. Solomon Tetteh Appiah thanked the Rebecca Foundation for coming to their aid in providing the CHPS compound to the people of Seduase

He also called on the staff and managers of the facility to honor the benevolence of the First Lady by making judicious use of the equipment and the exhibition of professional conduct and behavior.
