Hyundai Motor company and Kia are set to collaborate with Samsung electronics (internet of things) platform to their car services.
The three companies aim to break the boundaries between living and mobility spaces. This would enhance the time value of driving before, during and after.
The mobility and residential spaces collabration would include car-to-Home service and Home-to-car services. The car-to-Home service would provide remote and touch based control of various home appliances through voice commands while driving. The Home-to-car service would help check the car status, control function and manage charging before and after driving.
The Hyundai motor company and Kia corporation announced that they have signed an agreement with Samsung electronics. The set an agenda for the mobility and residential spaces collabration. This is for Hyundai and Kia customers to remotely control their vehicles functions via smart devices and apps.
Customers are expected to use it in various ways in their daily lives, enjoying uninterrupted connectivity experiences. For example, on a hot evening commute, user can activate the ‘Home Mode’ to control the AC and air purifier. However, user can start the robot vacuum, and turn on the lights for a comfortable and pleasant living space. Alternatively, before going out, the user can initiate the ‘Away Mode’ to turn off unnecessary lights. However, to return to a clean space, the user can start the robot vacuum.
Some of the tasks include, starting the vehicles, opening and closing windows and activating air condition. Conversely, they will have remote vehicle control via AI speakers, TVs and smartphone apps to control various vehicle functions. Samsung EVP Chanwoo park said the collaboration would lead to integrating of services. This would enhance customers’ experience in both the home and the cat.
“This is an opportunity to make the connected Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services more convenient in various fields,” said Haeyoung Kwon, Vice President of Hyundai and Kia’s Infotainment Development Center
Hyundai and Kia plan to expand their Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services to overseas customers by linking the connected car platforms and Samsung SmartThings.
