“JUSTICE FOR ALL” PROGRAM DOES NOT SET CRIMINALS FREE-HIGH COURT JUDGE

Justice Clement Honyenuga, a High Court Judge has dismissed claims that the “Justice For All” program gives opportunity for criminals in custody to be released into society.

According to the renowned High Court Judge, the “Justice For All” program in Sunyani had 14 persons selected out of which one person was convicted and fined, and five persons convicted and imprisoned as well.

He added that 30 people were granted bail.

Justice Honyenuga also stated that the 21 people who filed applications for bail were turned down with four persons sent to the psychiatric hospital for mental check up.

However, three people did not turn up at all.

“After visiting at the Central prisons in Sunyani today, the statistics has fallen. 14 were discharged, one was convicted and fined, 3 were convicted and imprisoned, 30 were granted bail, 21 applications bailing were refused, four been sent for psychiatric treatment and 3 were absent”, he said.

The High Court Judge concluded that the “Justice For All” program is meant for people who have been remanded, thus, it is not true that the program leads to the release of criminals into society.
