GHANA HEALTH SERVICE TRANSFERS EIGHT REGIONAL DIRECTORS

The Ghana Health Service has transferred eight out of it’s ten regional health directors to different jurisdictions in the health sector.

According to a statement signed and issued by the director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare stated that, the transfer is expected to take effect from October 1 this year and is part of measures to retool and improve the health sector.

By that, all the transferred directors are expected to hand over detailed handing over notes to their colleagues and start work at their new regions from the beginning of October.

Dr. Jacob Y. Mahama formerly of the Norther region has been transferred to the Western region, whereas Dr. Alexis Nang-Baifubah of the Ashanti region has also been transferred to the Central region.

Others affected also is Dr. Kofi Issah who has been transferred from the Upper East region to the Brong Ahafo region, Dr. Winfred Ofosu from the Upper West to the Upper East region and Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang formerly of the Western to the Ashanti region.

Dr. Samuel T. Kwashie has been transferred from the Central to the Northern region, his colleague Dr. Joseph Teye Nuertey who was the regional director at the Volta region has also been transferred to the Upper West region.

The transfer also saw Dr. Timothy Letsa of the Brong Ahafo region also been transferred to his home region, Volta.

However the regional directors of the Greater Accra and the Eastern regions were not reposted.
