Some andriod and IOS devices will not support Whatsapp starting today, November 1, 2021. Andriod 4.0 or lower and IOS 9 or older are at risk to the changes.
Users who do not back up their chats will lose their chats when the set changes are implemented.
Whatsapp support page stated, “Whatsapp will no longer support Andriod phones running OS 4.04 and older. please switch to a supported device or save your chat history before then.”
However, users affected need not panic. The process Whatsapp will use will be in a phased manner where the supposed smartphones will stop gaining security, updates and new features. That will gradually lead to the app being defunt on those phones.
Users will know if their phones are likely to face the new implementation when they check their phone’s version number. If it is lower than the required option, there is the need to download new ones. It might also be time to upgrade the phone.
