A young man believed to be 38 years and identified as Kofi Gunta, has been brutalized by five armed Military personnel who stormed Koforidua -Betom Wednesday morning around 8 am.
The military personnel from Ogreen Military base in Koforidua stormed the area in a Rambo style amidst warning shot and arrested the victim beat him to a pulp, hit his head severally with stones, punched and kicked him with the butt of their guns.
The victim who was bleeding profusely and looked exhausted was whisked into a waiting golf vehicle the military personnel were on board and drove him away.
According to some residents, the victim was beaten to a pulp for accosting one of the military officers three weeks ago to demand that he pays a commercial sex Worker after sleeping with her at Bula spot, a notorious brothel in Koforidua.
An eyewitness, Seth Owusu Acheampong, narrated that “this morning, we were here when we saw five soldiers-three in Uniform others in mufti stormed here searching for a certain guy but the guy ran away after seeing them so they arrested two other guys he was sitting with and started beating them. One managed to also run away from their car. But the other Kofi Gunta was arrested and was brutally beaten by the soldiers”
He added “they fired a warning shot, punched the guy, hit his head with stones, and blood was all over. This guy is innocent the real guy who had the confrontation with the soldier ran away after seeing them”.
The incident attracted many residents to the scene but they claim the rampaging military personnel threatened to shoot anyone who attempts to video the incident.
