SEVEN ARMED ROBBERS KILLED ARE NOT BANDIT- CHIEF RUFFAI

Acting Sarkin Zango, Chief Ahmed Ruffai Alao has stated the seven alleged robbers killed near Kumasi are indigenes and sons and are also well known in the community

Following the shooting of seven alleged robbers by the police, a press release from the general Secretary of the Sarkin Zango Palace, Abdallah Allo-Tofa indicates that the alleged robbers were indeed not robbers but were natives of the community. He described the development as a “calamity” that has befallen the youth in Zongo communities.

In a press statement, he appealed to members of the Zongo community particularly to the youth in the Ashanti Region, specifically Kumasi, to exercise the virtue of calmness and peace as authorities try to seek guardians and constitutional means to deal with the calamity.

Seven members of the Zongo community in Kumasi were shot by the police and their bodies were displayed in the media front line on July 17, 2018.

Alhaji Aliu Rufai also further revealed that an emergency meeting would be convened to determine how to end what he describes as “incessant killings of youth from Zongo communities by the police.”

“So we the indigenes in the Zongo communities will advise ourselves. So the council will convene an emergency meeting to discuss these issues,” he said.

The acting President of the council urged the youth in the affected community to be patient and desist from taking the law into their hands.

He further assured the youth in the Zongo communities in the Ashanti Region that the council will pursue the matter till a reasonable conclusion is reached.
