Enforcing Ban On ”Aboboyaa”

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey says security officers will patrol the Accra-Tema motorway starting today Tuesday November 2, 2021.

Speaking to eyewitness news of Accra based Citi TV, Hon. Quartey says the patrol is to ensure that tricycles commonly known as ”aboboyaa” carrying waste do not continue to use the motorway after the restrictions based on them.

The ban on tricycles was announced by Henry Quartey a week ago which is effective today.

He says all logistics and mechanisms have been put in place to ensure the patrol’s effectiveness. ”we have put all the mechanisms in place and all the logistics. The Ghana Police Regional Command has been given brand new Nissan pickups so we will put all the operational plans in place and then they will start work on the motorway 24/7  It is a law, and when people offend, it is the law enforcement agencies that need to deal with that. All the operations of the assembly will be assisted by the security agencies”.

According to Henry Quartey, Greater Accra region’s plan is to have waste transfer sites in every district in the region by the end of  February 2022.
