PROSTITUTION RATE INCREASES IN CAPE COAST

Metropolitan Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Daniel Wallace Acheampong Cape Coast, has confirmed that child prostitution is going  extra mile in Cape coast in the Central region.

Mr. Daniel Acheampong  brought on board some coastal areas where child prostitution is unchecked. He made mentioned Ntsin, Gyagyano, Kwaprow, Amanful ,Brofoyedur and Gyagyamu.

He imputed the high rate of prostitution to poverty and derivation in some parts of the area. To put an end to this practised, he inferred that measures should be put in place to minimize the act.

Addressing Journalist in Cape coast last week, Mr. Acheampong pointed out that 10% of teenage girls along the coastal communities were involved in prostitution increasing teenage pregnancy in those areas.

Mr.Acheampong also alleged that 20 teenage girls that wrote the Basic Education Certificate in Cape Coast were involved in the prostitution business.

He made it known that some parents and elders do not even see anything wrong with what the teenage girls are doing.

According to some teenagers, they claimed they sleep with some clients on credit while others refused to pay after having slept with them.

In view of this, Mr.Acheampng suggested that massive social education should be giving to sensitive teenage girls and their parents to enable their children go back to school.

He also stated that social Welfare has reached out to 15 communities where clubs have been formed to educate and to prevent others from engaging in teenage prostitution.

He inspired chiefs,opinion leaders  and parents in the affected areas to be watchful and supervise their children from going wayward.
