PROLONG THE DURATION FOR THE REGISTRATION, GA-SOUTH YOUTH CRY OUT.

The registration for the voter’s ID card was scheduled for two weeks, June 24 to July 7.   Many people have not been able to register within the period given. This is because the registration is going on at the various Electoral Commission Offices instead of the Polling Stations.

This is causing delay in the registration because many people have gathered there and there is a lot of pressure there. The situation could have been easier and faster  if the registration was being done at the various polling stations.

Many people sleep at the Ga-South EC office overnight just to register early, yet many have not been able to register.

The youth of Ga-South are therefore pleading with the Electoral Commissioner to give them more time in order to register.

“They don’t report early but when it is time to close, they sack us and tell us to come another time,” one boy complained. “We are just hoping they will give us more time to be able to register,” another said.

Some even claimed that this is going to affect His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo in next year’s elections. They said he should have allowed the registration to be done at  various Polling Stations and that he is putting them through stress.

Most of the people were claiming that the president has done more harm than good to Ghanaians.

It is the desire of the youth in Ga- South that the Electoral Commission would give them more time to be able to complete their registration.
