PRAGYA AND OKADA RIDERS TO ENSURE ROAD SAFETY, Tricycle is popularly known as ” pragya” is a cycle with three wheels,
Two at the back and one at the front.
The tricycle is an effective and efficient means of transport by Ghanaians.
Pragya and Okada riders needs to go through the necessary training for road safety.
The Minister of Roads and High ways Hon. Kwesi Amoako-Attah advised pragya and okada riders to observe road safety measures put in place.
Talking to some riders, most of our roads lack traffic light and those with traffic lights too are not functioning.
In recent times,
Most of our roads are occupied with pragya and okada as a means of transport
as compared to the purchase of taxes and trotro.
The increasing number of road accident has been alarming.
However, aside reckless driving, pedestrian not observing road signs,
The new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kasoa, Mrs. Anita Love Amisah in collaboration with the National Road Safety Authority
decided to embark on the need to train riders to understand the signs on our roads
and ensure the well-being of riders as well as passengers.
The exercise aims at reducing the rate of accident caused by riders and also remove underage riders from our roads.
Moreover,
people don’t normally use their cars due to traffic jams but rather escape traffic by bothering okada to dodge traffic.
Also,
The lack of knowledge and lack of proper education on road safety are the major cause of accidents on our roads.
