PASTOR IN TROUBLE FOR DEFRAUDING WOMAN

A pastor, who collected foreign and local currencies from a woman at Pokuase to pray over them, because there were bad spirits in her house, but failed to return the money, was remanded in police custody by an Accra circuit court yesterday.

Richmond Nana Danso, Resident Pastor of the African Faith Church, at Pokuase, who pleaded not guilty, will appear again on March 30, 2017.

He is accused of collecting US$10,080.00 and GH 2,000.00 from Ms. Lucy Korkoi Tetteh, unemployed, of Nsawam, to pray over the amount when she was invited to the church by her friend in June 2015.

Chief Superintendent Duuti Tuaruka told the court presided by Mrs. Afi Agbenu Kudomor that upon seeing the victim in his church for the first time, the accused persuaded her to bring all the money she had to him to pray over it and exorcise the evil spirits in her house.

The court heard that Ms. Tetteh sent her money (dollars and cedis) to the pastor, who performed rituals in the presence of the complainant, but refused to return the money to her after two weeks.

Chief Supt. Tuaruka said a report was made to the police, and the pastor was arrested in September 2015 and charged with fraudulent breach of trust to wit: dishonestly appropriating cash of US$10,080.00 and GH 2,000.00, invested in him as a trustee on behalf of Ms. Tetteh.
