NASPA DIVIDED OVER ALLOWANCE

The National Service Personnel Association is currently divided into two fronts over the increment of their allowances.

The allowance per each personnel was increased from GHC 350.00 to GHC 559.04 in the later part of the tenure of the former government and was therefore expected to reflect on the amounts received by the personnel this month( January), but that could not actualize.

Whereas some of the personnel have decided to demonstrate and present a petition to the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, a section of the personnel have called for calm and needless of the looming demonstration.

A short-while after a statement was released for the pending demonstration, another one also waded through the air calling for calm.

It is therefore not clear as to what position the association is taking.

Below is the first statement believed to have been released:

*PRESS RELEASE*
Cc
TO ALL MEDIA HOUSES
THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
MINISTRY OF FINANCE
*HAVE GOVERNMENT DENIED THE  PERSONNEL’S THEIR 60% INCREMENT OR HE IS YET TO DENY THEM?*
The atmosphere of the service personnel’s front looks tensed up, as most express their displeasure when they went to banks only to be welcomed by three hundred and fifty Ghana cedis(350.00) instead of the expected five hundred and fifty-nine Ghana cedis, 40peswas.(559.04)
Now let’s cast our minds back, somewhere last year on the *19th December, 2016. There was a letter with reference number (FWSC/D/SCR.3/Vol.17/26) from Ministry of Finance indicating the *UPWARD ADJUSTMENT OF NATIONAL SERVICE ALLOWANCE*, that increment represented only 60% of fresh graduate salary on a single spine salary structure (SSSS).
In actual fact the letter ignited massive jubilation celebrations and applause to the then government among service personnel’s across the country. At least with that current adjustment, they presumed that, they can manage with the said amount considering the cost of living. And looking at the sacrifices, devotion and commitment, stress coupled with cost of living in our places of service, everyone knew we deserve it.
The personnel are now perplexed and calling on government to answer the following questions:
*1.Have government failed these personnel or he is yet to?*
*2.If the government want to fail Ghanaians, must he start with ordinary service personnel?*
*3.Have the government forgotten soon, the rescue he promised Ghanaians and service personnel as well?*
*4.Can we start loosing trust in the government?*
*5.Could it be that, we are yet to be attended to?*
*6.If so, why are we not hearing from the government?*
*7.Our president said we should be good citizens building our communities, can we build our communities with an empty stomach?*
We think is too early to start expressing our displeasure on government who took over power less than a month ago, because of something that we are due for.
But let us not count our eggs before they hatched, this whole issue is still young.  Let’s still keep hoping to hear from the government. But we should not be blamed or considered spectators, if we use the other language, because we have exhausted all our legitimate communication channels.
*Thank You.*

But in an interview with Derrick Baise, a leader of the personnel desring to demonstrate in a Pink Fm News, he stated that the NASPA has no leaders as at now making any release from the former executives invalid.
He also stated that the group will still demonstrate on the said day and also debunked that he and his colleagues are been influenced by politicians.
