Ministry of Tourism to launch “ALL GHANA” project

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts is set to launch a new project called SEE GHANA, EAT GHANA, WEAR GHANA. Expected to be launched in July, the project is intended to increase the sales and use of Made-in-Ghana goods and services and also identify ways of packaging them for the foreign market.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Kwadwo Odame Antwi, made this known during a meeting with private sector players in the hospitality industry at Takoradi in the Western Region. Specifically, the project will concentrate on how to package and promote Ghanaian dishes, attire and tourist sites.

“If we launch this project and promote it well, you would be surprised the kind of benefits it will bring to the economy. “Just like the National Friday Wear, if it were to be our official wear…we would be solving the problem of Akosombo Textiles Limited….we would be creating the demand right here.”

The meeting, which was held on Monday, was part of the Ministry of Tourism one-week tour of the Western Region to identify key tourist attractions and find ways of developing them. In attendance was the sector minister, Catherine Afeku, her deputy Dr. Ziblim Barri Iddi, Chief Director Nana Oduro Kwarteng, the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Eckow Sampson, the Director for Programming – Creative Arts Industry, Socrates Sarfo and a representative of the Ghana Tourism Federation.
