KWESI NYANTAKYI IS NOT A ‘CRIMINAL’- KOFI MANU

Former Vice Chairman of the Player Status Committee for the dissolved Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kofi Manu says Ghanaians who have labelled the former President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, as a criminal are wrong, unless it is confirmed by a court.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM on Wednesday, Mr. Manu said, “why will you condemn Kwesi Nyantakyi as a criminal when he has not been taken to court and proven guilty?”

Kofi Manu admitted accepting money from the controversial investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, but returned it following a hint given to him by someone.

“I also took the money from Anas but I returned it after someone from the GFA gave me a hint the following day. If I had wanted to be rich, I would have enriched myself in Cameroon”.

The Vice Chairman also confirmed that he will not sue controversial investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, as a result of financial constraint.

“I won’t take Anas to court. I don’t have money; I have no evidence that I returned the money to Anas and Acquah because I didn’t know I was being filmed. I accepted the money with clean conscience”.

“What crime has been committed at the GFA secretariat to be labelled as a crime scene?”

“Why is government being unfair to the GFA? Is it because of football? Why is the government not taking steps to dissolve the Electoral Commission too?”, he added

Kofi Manu was caught accepting money in the investigative piece by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
