Somewhere last year, a group of persons believed to be land guards attacked a trotro driver known as Alebe and killed him at the full glare of his wife and children.

The situation resulted in the beefing up of police operatives within the Kasoa Township resulting in the arrest of a number of suspects believed to be land guards.

Meanwhile, eight persons had been arrested in connection with the murder of the poor trotro driver with several others absconding including two other suspects who had visited the Winneba hospital for healthcare.
Relatives also expressed their dissatisfaction over the posture and reaction of the police when the matter was reported to them during the attack.

Speaking to Pinknews, head of the bereaved family, Mr Emmanuel Dawson said that they were called to court four times but they were not heard.
“After the court granted the bail, we went to the police commander who told us he never knew about the bail. He said he should have signed the bail before it was announced at court but it was only brought to him after it was declared in court” he said.

The widow, Rosemond Antua pleaded on the government to provide them with security because before the suspects were granted bail, a message of a threat had been delivered to a member of the family of which was reported to the police.

The family has therefore hinted about petitioning the Attorney General’s Department since they are not happy about how proceedings are done.
