IMPACT OF CELEBRITIES ON THE YOUTH

Celebrities are people who the young generation look up to and musicians are no exception. Celebrities are supposed to have a positive effect on their fans especially the youth but for sometime now celebrities have been on each others neck either beefing or exchanging words and this is appalling.

Some say they use this to promote their businesses. Some of them argue on the fact that they are the best in their field and the worst situations that comes out their controversies is when they begin to exchange words (insults) like kids.

After the recent incident at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards between the two Dance hall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy causing a pandemonium in the dome, the TV presenter Nana Aba Anamoah managed to make peace between them and we thought this attitude had come to a halt

Yesterday, the Ghanaian  hip pop and high life recording artiste Jason Gaisie popularly known as Pappy Kojo tweeted on his page @PAPPYKOJO that ‘’He’s in his 30s and nobody should tell him what to tweet’’ He also posted an insult in our local dialect Twi.

Some of his fans retweeted supporting what he posted others too disagreed. Under Article 21 of Ghana’s constitution states that, ’’All persons shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression which shall include freedom of the press and other media’’ but that doesn’t give him the right to post such insulting words.

Pappy Kojo is no different from the other celebrities and citizens. They sit at the comfort of their homes and on radio stations to insult each other and people in higher positions.

They should know that they are been heard all the time and are setting a pace for the younger ones to follow so they ought to live and live the right way.
