I DON’T REGRET GOING TO THE PRESIDENT AND HIS VICE – ANAS AREMEYAW ANAS

The ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has said that he doesn’t regret going to the President with the Number 12 video.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas said he doesn’t regret going to the President, his Vice and the Ministers whose names were mentioned in the number 12 video because it is ethical.
He made this known in an interview with Daniel Dadzie on the Super Morning show on Joy FM on Thursday, 28th June, 2018.

According to him, he could have been subjected to court suit if had not gone to see them to get their side of the story.

Responding to the reason why he sent the video to the President and the others before putting it out, Anas said: “Look, in journalism there is something that is called “Right to reply”. It is very basic and it doesn’t matter who. We are talking about the President of the nation. We are talking about the Vice President who we all voted for. We are talking about the Ministers of the State. Their names have been dropped. What do you think would have happened if I had not gone to speak to them and I deliberately put this video out? What do you think would have happened?

He added: “The ethical dimensions are huge. And like I said, as we do this work, we are subjected to court suit. I could have been easily sued if I had not gone to ask them their side”.

Aremeyaw Anas said: “I have no regrets going to the President, I have no regrets going to the Vice President, I have no regrets speaking to the Ministers involved and finding out their side of the story. Because that is journalistic, that is ethical. That is what we ought to always do. And if I get this story tomorrow again, I’ll go back and speak to them because their side matters”.

When he was asked if he spoke to the 77 referees and other officials before putting out the video, he said they wrote letters of reply and took them to the GFA but they threw the letters on the floor and threw them out.
