GHANA REPATRIATES THEIR CITIZENS
STRANDED CITIZENS

The Ghana government were able to repatriates over 60 of it citizens from Liberia. The Ghana Air Force Military jet landed at the Robert International Airport to rescue stranded citizens. On the 14th of august 2020, thirty four Ghanaian left for their country. Twenty six also, on the 15th of August.  According to report, those Ghanaian were stranded due to the corona virus pandemic. Thus, leading to the repatriation exercise.

The bond between the two countries is not a recent thing. The bond, started ever since the Ghana refugee board accepted Liberian in their country as refugees. In the year 1990, some Liberian settled in Ghana seeking for peace. Liberia is a country that have experienced war for over 14 years. the Liberia refugee camp is located in the central region of Ghana. Liberia, after the Helen Johnson government, can now be pronounce as a peaceful country. The country is now govern by his excellency George Weah. Upon hearing this good news, most of the Liberia refugee have returned to their country.

STRANDED GHANAIAN CITIZENS IN OTHER COUNTRIES IN AFRICA

Ernest-Burke Asare Asiedu the Ghana Ambassador to Liberia said, the repatriation of Ghanaian from Liberia is not base on any negativity. Rather to rescue their stranded citizens. Also, the repatriation exercise will continue across the entire African continent.

Recently, stranded Ghanaian in South Africa called upon government to come to their aid. According to them, since the outbreak of this pandemic, things are not going too well for them. Therefore, they are pleading with Ghana government to help them. This is to tell the government of Liberia that the repatriation exercise is of no harm. But to rescue their stranded citizens in all the African countries.

A Liberian who lost his daughter in a tragic motor accident in Ghana was also part of the sixty repatriated citizens. Though it was a jet for their citizens, Ghana is like a second home to all Liberians. The Ambassador thanked the Liberia government for the peaceful coexistence and promise to maintain the bond between them.
