FIVE PERSONS ARRESTED AS ‘MIDDLE-MEN’ OF NSS ON RE-POSTINGS

The recent National Service Secretariat (NSS) postings of prospective Service persons have contributed to supposed ‘middlemen’ who extort money from these persons in exchange for re-posting.

According to sources, five persons have been arrested for exploiting these personnel for their own personal gains. They promise to re-post the NSS persons under false pretext in order to swindle them.

The Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Dr Gifty Oware-Aboagye told the host of ‘Ade Akye Abia’ on Okay FM, “In National Service Secretariat, we don’t have any middlemen, that’s why we arrested these five persons posing as middlemen who decided to stand in for us and dupe innocent people. It is illegal for a person to collect money from someone with the hopes of re-posting”.

She further specified that it is quite frustrating when the NSS release  postings and out of desperation, Service persons pay money for re-postings because of the remote places they are posted to.

Disclosing on Okay FM morning show, Dr Aboagye said the NSS has collaborated with the National Security and Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to investigate what made “these people” commit such an act.

The Deputy Executive Director confirmed that the said persons are not linked to the NSS but  investigations are still on-going.

Speaking on the way forward in preventing such an act from happening to unaffected Service persons, Dr Gifty Oware-Aboagye indicated that if an NSS person is confirmed, the individual must first go to the User Agency for the Agency to approve before the person can go to the National Service Secretariat.

She furthered by saying that, a prospective National Service person has to book an appointment on the NSS dashboard online before going to the Secretariat.

In her final words, she entreated anybody who is coming for re-posting to start from the Regional Offices.

Re-posting is not a bad thing, since a lot of people come for it due to different reasons”.

The NSS has issued a press release warning prospective Service persons not to fall victims to people who promise to change their places of posting for them.
