Berlusconi: If you play like that, I won’t pay you

ilvio Berlusconi delivered a speech to AC Milan players this week in which he threatened not to pay them if their performances don’t improve.

Milan play Juventus in the Coppa Italia final this Saturday after a poor league campaign, and their controversial president has urged the club’s players to improve or face going without pay.

“We can’t continue to play this badly. The gentlemen who provide your wages by sponsoring the club told me while eating that if you continue to play like that they won’t give us any more money…and then I won’t pay you either. I won’t pay you,” said the 79-year-old.

Berlusconi added that the threat of being sued does not scare him, pointing to the lengthy process of such cases in Italy.

“…And try to sue me. Do you know how long the legal process takes in Italy? Eight years.”

The Rossoneri finished seventh in this season’s Serie A, and will be hoping to provide fans and sponsors alike with a positive ending to the season as they look to overcome champions Juventus in the Coppa Italia final.
