TRAIN YOUR WARDS WITH LOCAL LANGUAGES-BGL

Adwoa Apraku,Head of Asante Twi Department at the Bureau of Ghana Languages (BGL) has advised parents to train their wards with their mother tongues for deeper understanding of the local dialect.

Buttressing her standpoint, she indicated that, this will enable the children to be fluent and affluent in local languages  to help them read their local dialects perfectly as well.

According to the Head of Asante Twi Department at the Bureau of Ghana languages, she says teachers should teach the children in school with the local languages before in turn, teaching them with the English language for them to understand the subject been taught better.

Moreover,Adwoa Apraku hinted that, research has made it known that children who are taught with their mother tongue in school have better understanding compared to those who are initially taught with the English language.

She advised parent that, parent should train their wards with their local languages in the house and in turn when they go to school they can communicate with the English language.

The Head of the Asante Twi at the Bureau of Ghana Languages Adwoa Apraku says they train people with the various languages such as Asante Twi, Nzema, Ga Adangbe, Ewe, Gonja, Fante, Akuapem Twi, hence to commemorate international  mother language day.

Furthermore, at the Bureau of Ghana Languages, they start to teach their student with learning of the alphabet before they progress into other matters.
