Zlatan Ibrahimovic has dropped a broad hint that a sensational move to Manchester United could be on – and declared that Jose Mourinho is the man to win back the title.
Incoming United manager Mourinho is known to have sounded out the 34-year-old via intermediaries as he looks to return the club to the pinnacle of the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic was effusive in his praise of the Portuguese manager on Thursday, playing up to speculation that they could be poised for a stunning reunion.
The 34-year-old striker said that the ‘future is already written’ and knows where he will be playing next season.
Ibrahimovic’s camp are understood to be asking for £220,000 a week having received ‘concrete offers from England, Italy and outside Europe.’
The Mourinho factor could yet sway one of the most enigmatic talents in European football, who admitted his desperation to work with the former Chelsea boss after their time together at Inter Milan.
Asked if he was tempted to work with Mourinho one more time, Ibrahimovic said: ‘I had a fantastic time with him, when I was working with him.
‘Working again with him… when I left Inter I said, “We had a short time together. I had a great time”. If we will work together again I don’t know. Let’s see how things play out.’
When pushed if he was close to joining United, Ibrahimovic added: ‘I don’t give guarantees.
‘I said there is concrete offers from Premier League so let us see what happens.’
With a wide grin, he continued: ‘I have spoken with him (Mourinho) every day since I left Inter.
‘That is no secret. I have a great relationship with Mourinho and we are in contact but not in this week.
‘I am talking to him for many years so that is it. What else do you need to know, tell me?
While Ibrahimovic’s post-PSG future will soon be resolved, it will be fascinating to see how Mourinho affects United following Louis van Gaal’s sacking.
Ibrahimovic said: ‘I think it is a great move. If you want action, you bring Mourinho.
‘I believe he is the man to bring them back to the top. Wherever he went he has won. He knows what he is doing. If you want to win, you bring Mourinho.’ 
One question lurking over Ibrahimovic concerns his suitability, aged 34, to the physicalities of the Premier League after four years of dominance in the less competitive surrounds of French football.
He said: ‘I am just warming up. I had a great season, a fantastic season so I proved age is just a number. Everything is in your head. Everything you want to do, you do. If I want to make it, I will make it. If I want to do it, I will do it. I am not worried.’
