“ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY”

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker made a statement, “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, in a recent interview concerning the way forward for Ghana football. In this interview Mr.Ade Coker uttered this statement to crown all what he said and believed to be the answer to the recent exposure of corruption in the Ghana football association and how the association could be improved.
First of all, Mr. Coker talked about the government looking back into history and introducing some of the old systems which proved very effective. He talked especially about the GFAs partnership with the government which ensured the separation of powers and the low rate of corruption. Mainly this was possible because at the time, GFA didn’t take decisions by themselves. Government had a hand in all the decisions they made. Probably government made decisions for the association. Mr.Coka therefore reveals that bringing this system back will actually improve football in Ghana.
In conclusion Mr.Coker said “the system that has collapsed should not come back again, that’s not a good system. It has collapsed, you get people who become dictatorial and you get power, and absolute power corrupts absolutely “.this statement he made, further explains the nature of the GFA which he stated as “collapsed” and should not be put into practice again.
