The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kumbungu Constituency, Hon. Ras Mubarak has made utterances concerning Mad. Jean Mensa’s appointment as the New Electoral Commission Chair.
On the “Omanbapa Kasa show” on Pink FM, the honourable MP disclosed that Madam Jean Mensa who has been appointed as the new E.C Chair is prejudiced, and hence, they do not “trust her on issues of neutrality”.

He added that in academic wise, the new E.C Chair is suitable for the position but her past stories do not portray her as neutral enough to hold the office of the E.C Chair. Additionally, he asserted that the spouse of Mad. Mensa was once an executive under the NPP Kufour administration. Therefore, she cannot be a fair superior.
In his view, Hon. Mubarak added that, “Hon. Daniel Aboagye’s claim of equating what happened in the past in the case of Madam Charlotte Osei is an admission of the fact that, Former E.C boss was disgraced”.
Mr. Mubarak furthered by saying that the NDC is a political party which holds in high esteem the value of self-respect and “will not embarrass a married woman of sleeping around without any evidence”.
He stated that if the NPP are democratic enough, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Otiko Djaba would have been punished for accusing the Former E.C Boss of such immorality, instead of “rewarding” her with the position she now holds. “The NPP will not have made such comments against Mad. Charlotte Osei if they had respect for women”, he added.
Hon. Mubarak uttered that, the factors that qualifies a person to hold the office of the E.C boss does not only include one’s level of education but mainly, her neutrality in elections.
The Kumbungu MP as well accused the NPP government of not conferring with any political party and civil society prior to Mad. Mensa’s appointment. “If it’s argued in the past that NDC did not consult widely in Former E.C boss’ appointment, then in that case, must the NPP commit that same mistake? Do two wrongs make one right?” He asked.
He made mention that members of the NDC have been warned sternly not to accuse the New E.C Chair on issues of immorality. “It is indecent”, he strongly proclaimed.
The Member of Parliament said that the NDC is delighted by “the super incompetence of the NPP government due to grievances of the masses”.
“We are not seeing any progressive change as far as the NPP is concerned”, he finalised.

Boss of Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Madam Jean Mensa, has been appointed as the New E. C Chair under the Nana Addo Government, with Mr. Samuel Tettey and Dr. Eric Asare Bossman as her deputies.
