La Liga President, Javier Tebas says by moving from Spain’s Real Madrid to Juventus football club in Italy, Cristiano Ronaldo has chosen a better country in economic terms.
Cristiano Ronaldo the Portuguese star has moved from Real Madrid to join Juventus football club in Italy for € 112 million.
Speaking in his first press conference after his move, the player explained why he joined Juventus. According to him, “I want a new challenge and even if I am 33 I still feel young. At my age other players go to China or Arabia, I am different and I am really grateful to Juventus because they believed in me.”
La Liga president Tebas, however, has given a different explanation to Ronaldo’s Italy switch: “Taxes have had a huge impact on Ronaldo’s decision”, Tebas stated.
“In Spain he paid the € 50% in taxes due to the ‘Beckham law’; in Italy he will only pay € 100.000. What would you, If I pay € 50% in Spain and € 20% in Italy, where do I go? Ronaldo has chosen a better country in economic terms, that’s why he chose Juventus”, he explained.
Tebas also added that, Cristiano will earn a lot of money in Juventus and this will favor him since in Spain players have the worst tax situation.
“Cristiano will earn more money than here [Spain]. I think that fiscally it favors him to go Italy. Here, in Spain, we have a problem with fiscal competition. Out of the biggest Leagues, Spain is where the players have the worst tax situation”, he added.
