There is a very great tension in the Awutu Senya East NPP over the appointment of MCE as those rooting for Michael Mensah, a secretary to the party are engaged in banter with those rooting for Abdallah Sheik Bonsu a one-time parliamentary candidate aspirant of the party.
This scuffle follows a press conference organized by a group calling itself concerned youth of NPP who sought to bring Abdallah Bonsu to the limelight with regards to the pending appointment.
The group had said at their press conference that they “do not need an MCE who lives in a rented apartment”.
The party executives at the constituency who seemed not to be happy about that portion of the statement has issued a counter statement which has derailed the integrity of Abdallah Sheik Bonsu.

MINISTER FOR SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT INNITIATIVES, MADAM HAWA KOOMSON HAS NO HAND IN THE NOMINATION OF Mr MICHAEL MENSAH AS MCE FOR AWUTU EAST
It has come to our notice as Executives of New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency that there is a group hovering around the constituency calling themselves CONCERN YOUTH OF AWUTU SENYA EAST(CYASE) and this group is making false claims about the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Madam Hawa Koomson and portraying one Abdullah Bonsu as the one who is suppose to be the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for AWUTU Senya East.
According to the group, two members are vying for the MCE position in this area, thus, Abdulah Bonsu and Mr Michael Mensah, who is also the constituency Secretary but the Member of Parliament, also the Minister of State in charge of Special Development Initiatives , Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson , popularly known as Obatampa is in support of the Secretary, Mr Michael Mensah.
They are again alleging that Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson is not in good terms with the other contestant and she doesn’t want him to be an MCE because he contested her during the party primaries.
Another funny thing about their claim is the extend to which they have gone to say that Abdulah Bonsu is the choice of the people as far as MCE position is concern.
However , we the fifteen(15) member executives want to say without equivocation that all their claims are not true
Our background check as constituency executives proved that this Abdulah Bonsu has hands in the activities of this unscrupulous group just to make unnecessary allegations of which they can not even substantiate and also to bring disunity in the party.
To set the records straight, our position as executives of Awutu Senya East Constituency on their claims are as follows:
1 We the executives do not know any group bearing such name in Awutu Senya East Constituency
2 Abdulah Bonsu is neither the choice of the constituents nor New Patriotic Party executives as they are claiming
3 The minister , also MP for our area, Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson is not advocating for anyone for MCE position.
4 Those who are making such claims are not NPP members but well known National Democratic Congress(NDC) members whom Abdulah Bonsu has hired them to make those false accusations
5 The chiefs of our area are not in support of Abdulah Bonsu candidature as it is being peddling around.
We the executives want to state it categorically that the man we want him to be our MCE is Mr Michael Mensah, our constituency secretary.
This is because , Mr Michael Mensah is man of the people ; somebody who understands the politics of the constituency.
Furthermore, NPP is a party that recognizes loyalists and Mr Michael Mensah has been loyal to the party even the time we were in opposition
Mr. Michael Mensah has sacrificed his time and resources for the survival of the party for many years
Not to exaggerate our sayings, it reached a time that Mr. Michael Mensah forfeited a job that could fetched him millions of dollars just to ensure that the party come to party and at the same time maintain the MP seat in our constituency.
Having considered all these , we thought it wise and much prudent to help him get the MCE positions for people to emulate his kind gesture.
To put his commitment and loyalty aside, Mr. Michael Mensah is well educated of which Abdulah Bonsu doesn’t come near him
We don’t want MCE who doesn’t know how to read and write because one can not hold administrative position if the person is not educated and this Abdulah Bonsu has no high education certification to boast of; infact Abdulah Bonsu has no knowledge about management or administration, so the man is just making noise.
We the members want to state it clear again that Mr. Michael Mensah is man of our choice and nobody else.
To Abdulah Bonsu, since he is claiming that he is a business man, our advise to him is to concentrate on his business because the mere fact you are a business man doesn’t make you MCE.
We are also appealing to our constituents to remain calm because our President, His Excellency Nana Addo is a listening President and we know that he will consider Michael Mensah nomination.

Following this release, Charles Kojo Oddom, who spoke to Obeng Sarkodie on Pink Fm’s morning show in a confirmation of the above statement stated that all the party’s executives are behind Michael Mensah due to his dedicated service to the party.
On the part of Abdallah, he however stated that, he is not fit for the position since he has made no significant contribution to the party.
Rebuttal
In a very quick rebuttal, Bright Oware, PRO for Abdallah Bonsu in a soft tone stated in an interview with Pink Fm’s morning show host Obeng Sarkodie denied the activism of his superior in the said press conference quoted by the party executives.
He also stated that issues raised about the academic credibility of Mr Abdallah is a total falsehood since he is even pursuing a degree in law at the University of Ghana, Legon.
He however added that Abdallah Bonsu, over the years has contributed immensely to the party’s success and should not be rejected at this time.
