Madrid fans’ fiesta in Manchester

Manchester is turning Madridista white as almost 3000 supporters have descended on the city ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final.

The visiting supporters of Real Madrid have been congregating at the Melia hotel where tickets will be handed out for the clash with Manchester City.

Every Real fan has received a wristband as part of security measures that the club has incorporated throughout the season in both La Liga and the Champions League.

The Spanish supporters have turned to the tourist areas of the city and are bringing an atmosphere prior to kick-off at 06:45 GMT.

There are chants of support for their heroes as the streets of Manchester are proverbially painted white.

It will, however, be a different story once inside the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening with the Madrid fans a minority in the 55,000 capacity stadium.

City have made plans of their own to build a unique atmosphere with a spectacular blue and silver display being planned for all four stands to be shown as the two teams walk out onto the pitch.
