Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold received glowing praise from club legend Jamie Carragher after starring in the 2-0 win over Leeds.
Alexander-Arnold – who confirmed he was NOT a Liverpool mascot as Sportsmailcolumnist Jamie Carragher led out the Reds against Leeds in 2009, as has been reported – was named man-of-the-match to lead his side into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
He supplied a pin-point cross for Divock Origi to poke the home side in front at Anfield, before 17-year-old Ben Woodburn became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the club to confirm the victory.
Alexander-Arnold has been at the club’s academy since the age of six and has been ear-marked for the future by a number of coaches, and made his debut in the 2-0 defeat of Tottenham in the fourth round last month.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher insisted the 18-year-old was good enough to be Liverpool’s back-up to Nathaniel Clyne.
