Gov’t appointments puzzling, bizarre – Akufo-Addo

Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described appointments made by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) as puzzling and bizarre.

According to him, rather than appointing people to positions based on merit, the government makes appointment based on other considerations.

Speaking at the party’s fundraising ceremony Wednesday, April 13, Mr. Akufo-Addo said the country is in crisis because of the way it is being governed.

He said agriculture which used to be the bedrock of the country’s development has now become a “pale shadow of its former self”.

He encouraged Ghanaians not to lose hope because of events in the country explaining “a change that will make way for competent, honest-hardworking, well-qualified team to take over the affairs of this country” is coming.

He explained that his team of competent people will be able to steer the country into prosperity contrary to the “current state of affairs” which he described as “prosperity for the friends and families” of government officials.

“What excites me is that in spite of all the difficulties, the Ghanaian people have hope. They have hope for a brighter future. They have hope because they believe change is coming”, he said.

He appealed to party members to make donations towards the agenda for change adding they should “pray for change. Knock doors for change. Arise for change”.
