GOVERNMENT SHOULD GIVE ACCOUNT OF FREE AMENITIES.

HON. MUTA WAKILU

Adam Muta Wakilu, member of parliament for Damango constituency, member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),and the minority speaker of Mines and Energy has petitioned the Finance minister.

He has petitioned the Minister of Finance,Honorable Ken Ofori Atta to give an account of the free electricity and water.
Upon the partial lock down,the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo  announced that government would soak up to 50% of tariffs of water and electricity.

Hon. Wakilu added that the finance minister should give a fair account of the use of money which was put in place for such a project.

He then continued to say that he has proof that some people did not benefit from such arrangements.

The member of parliament showed proof of receipts saying that he expects the finance minister to go into details.

He asked the finance minister to explain as to why the president announced such a relief and some citizens did not benefit from it.

He also added that “proper accountability is critical”.

Therefore the government should give account of the money which was spent on the project.

He also showed receipts of people,he claims have personally come to him to complain that they have not benefited from the project over the period.
