EXPERT CAUTIONS DRIVERS OVER SPEEDING IN THE RAINY SEASON

An expert in driving and instructor at the Kasoa branch of Speedline Driving School, Mr. Eric Owusu Okyere has admonished drivers of vehicles to be extra careful since we have entered the rainy season.

He was speaking in an exclusive interview with Pinknews’ reporter Ebenezer Kodie on road accidents and its contributing factors and stated that “rains have a hundred percent probability in contributing to a road accident since roads become slippery and reduces traction which increases the stopping distance”

Mr. Okyere therefore called on drivers to “follow strictly the two seconds gap rule” and even increase the gap further between drivers and the leading vehicles and so it will be “very appropriate to multiply the two seconds rule practice” due to the change in climate”.

Traction is the ability of tires of vehicles to hold on to the ground.

He therefore called on vehicle users to be extra careful and purchase correct tires that can cope with the climatic conditions of the country and also avoid using worn out or ‘sakora’ tires.

Furthermore the instructor who is also a car expert charged drivers to embark on routine and regular checks and maintenance of their vehicles since that could help prevent traffic accidents as well as expanding the span of vehicles.
