Ebony to be laid to rest March 17

The Ghanaian dancehall artiste whose life was tragically cut short in a car crash a week ago will be laid to rest on March 17, her family announced Sunday.

At a ceremony in Accra to observe one week since the musician died, family members said they were yet to decide on the venue and burial place for the female musician.

The event held at St. Martin De Porres school at Dansoman Sunday morning attracted scores of people in the entertainment and creative industry, especially musicians who have been paying tribute to Ebony.

Ebony died the night of Thursday, February 8, 2018, night in a motor accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway while returning to Accra after visiting her mother in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, the 20-year-old Ebony died at a period her young music career was soaring with back-to-back hits. She turned 21 years on Friday, February 16.

Two of three others who were travelling with Ebony also died in the accident. They are Lance Corporal Francis Atsu Vondee of the Ghana Airforce stationed at the Accra Airforce Base in Burma Camp and Franky, Ebony’s best friend.

Ebony’s driver, however, survived the accident.
