19-YEAR OLD ENTREPRENEUR RECEIVES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT

A business ideas competition which was organized by the government has awarded a 19-year old Vanessa Aisha Limann with financial support from the government of Ghana on Monday June 26, 2018 in Accra.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday launched the competition, which aimed to arouse entrepreneurship role in the country that will boost economic growth in the country.

The competition entitled “Presidential pitch” is meant to support the young businesses conceive. Speaking at the launch of the competition, the President stated how his government is committed in generating the most business friendly environment in Africa, where businesses flourish and create job.

“That is why government has put in place measures intended to reduce the cost of doing business and improve business environment.

Our actions have resulted in growing stability of macro-economy, reduction in inflation, reduction in utility tariffs and an abolition of nuisance taxes whose aim is to shift the focus of the economy from taxation to production”. He stated.

Organizers of the competition under the protection of the ministry of Business Development came out with 10 young entrepreneurs who presented their ideas and answered some questions.

The 19-year old Vanessa Aisha Limann from the West Sissala District came up first to receive GH₵ 50,000.00 to help fund her agro-processing initiative and GH₵25, 000.00 from the government for being the youngest among the 10 competitors.

The President further stated that, his administration was determined to change things and no single business will be left out in order to move its vision of making Ghana an exporter of raw materials to that of net exported, of value added goods and services.

He told the first 10 beneficiaries of the competition that his expectation from them is to see them start-up business to help create employment for others.

“Every great invasion began with an idea. All the wright brothers had was an idea and today we are thriving aviation industry the world over. A journey of five thousand mile begins with a first step. We are taking the first step”, the president addressed.

The president however stated that he was going to take personal interest on how the beneficiary companies will run as the ministry help educate them into greatness.
