Why GTV Did Not Broadcast the Ghana-Sudan AFCON Match

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has explained that it was unable to broadcast the AFCON qualifier between Ghana and Sudan due to New World TV, the Free-to-Air (FTA) rights holder in Sub-Saharan Africa, failing to provide the necessary feed to all FTA broadcasters across the region.

In a statement dated Thursday, October 10, 2024, GBC clarified that it had fully paid for the broadcasting rights. However, unresolved issues between New World TV and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) led to the situation.

The GBC expressed its regret over the inconvenience caused to viewers due to the inability to air the match.
