WHY DID THE ‘UNSINKABLE’ TITANIC SINK?

“For example, experts believe that the ship was sailing too fast for the icy conditions. Moreover, they think Captain Edward J. Smith paid too little attention to iceberg warnings that had been received”

Yes, the ship was “unsinkable” but it sank.

Everyone in the NDC would doubt the prophecy of an ‘angel’ about the loss of this year’s election.

But they lost so simply with a humiliating figure just like the ‘Titanic’ sank just three hours after hitting the iceberg.

There has been many factors mentioned by people as the reasons for the loss and I have my own version.

Now, for anyone to believe that President Mahama lost as a result of poor performance, I would not agree due to the fact that even after the loss I have heard from some Ghanaians even NPP faithful who touts his ‘unprecedented infrastructural” build up.

But I think some of the key reasons and that is by me are

1: Complacency, the party had been complacent about their victory and had failed to campaign vigorously on issues. Government’s achievements were not properly preached about and every political conversation as if it was an anthem “Visit the Greenbook” as if the greenbook was a bible or any other religious book.

2: Good Campaign Message:  “JM Toaso”, that phrase echoed in every ear during the campaign period but it wasn’t well convincing as compared to the messages in the NPP’s change campaign, like the “One District, One Factory”, “One constituency, One Million dollars”, “One Village, One Dam” and the “Restoration of the Nurses and Teacher Trainee allowances”.

The President’s communication team failed to produce a well-crafted, convincing message.

3: Government Decisions: The President himself made some key decisions that to every serious minded electorate, was unnecessary. Many saw the release of the ‘Montie 3’ as an upfront to our democracy and many described the President as a not consistent when a short while after withdrawing the trainees allowances made a sharp U-turn to restore it. A president should be firm!

4: Opinion Attacks: Some key members of the NDC verbally attacked and vilified people when they expressed their opinions even though everyone is entitled to their opinion. This NPP’s did same and even to a higher extent than the NDC’s but it didn’t affect them because they were not in government. It was just like the case between the “Abusuapanyin” to wit Familyhead and a ‘mere’ family member.

There are a lot more others like the Rawlings factor, hoarding of campaign inputs and etc.

Now, there is a very high expectancy of Ghanaians towards Akufo Addo- Bawumia’s government due to ‘extravagant promises’ they made during their campaign.

Failure to honor those promises or a greater part of them would resort to a ‘deadly massacre’ in the next elections.

NOTE: Every Ghanaian in every district is expecting a factory, Every parent and guardian is expecting a Free-SHS, Every graduate is expecting employment and every businessman expecting a reduction and removal of some taxes.

It is likely that, Ghana would experience a series of labor agitations under this regime due to the promises made.

Akufo Addo will need a very good communication team to speak for the government and on timely basis to explain vividly to the populace on the direction of the governance process.

Devoid of insults, regardless of anyone who raises any topic on the governance process, they should give a very good and well meaning explanation.

And the NDC, it would be better if they quietly sit to restrategize their communication strategy and ‘attacking strategy’ ahead of the 2020 elections in order to improve upon their performance in this year’s elections.

But a possible comeback? Hahaha…that one…well let’s talk about that later.
