Antoine Griezmann is putting the Champions League final to the back of his mind in order to focus on Atletico Madrid’s assault on the La Liga title.
Atletico are level on points with leaders Barcelona and a point ahead of Real Madrid, who they will meet later this month in Milan in the second all-Madrid Champions League final in three years.
Griezmann scored the vital goal for Los Rojiblancos against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night, but the Frenchman is adamant that if Atletico Madrid allow thoughts of European success to enter their minds then they will miss out on domestic glory.
“Before Milan we have two league games,” he said. “There will be time to think about the final.
“First we have to win at Levante and Celta and only then can we think about winning the final…If we think of the final now, we will fail in the league.”
Real Madrid came out on top in the 2014 Champions League final when the two sides met in Lisbon in dramatic circumstances, but Griezmann believes there is nothing to pick between the two neighbouring parties this time around on May 28.
“It will be a long two weeks without matches,” Griezmann said. “There is no favourite.”
