The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, aka Chairman Wontumi has stated that he will order for thugs to attack all NDC Polling Officers during this year’s general elections scheduled for November 7th.
The vocal chairman who recently attacked and assaulted a sitting Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu Amankwah and was subsequently busted by the Ashanti Region Police Command was speaking in a radio interview, commenting about the recent statement by the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor on the police administration’s consideration of shutting down social media on the elections day.
Chairman Wontumi who descended heavily on the IGP by describing him as been in bed with the NDC and acting according to the whims and caprices of H.E John Dramani Mahama and treading steps to rig the elections in favor of the ruling party alleged that the IGP and the NDC has imported walking talking devices which would be used by them to communicate on the elections day when the social media is shut down.
“This is a step to deny us our communication rights……. we won’t sit down and watch them, when they shut down social media on the elections day I, I Wontumi will order for an attack to be launched on all polling officers of the NDC…. They started using the machines just a day after my arrest, all their executives are using it and they communicate through that with the police” He said vehemently.
In a quick response, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Sammed Akalilu has refuted this allegation by describing it as “unfounded, malicious and irresponsible”.
Speaking in an interview on a Pink 96.9 FM’s Midday News, Sammed Akalilu added their readiness for the “irresponsible and chaotic chairman” and would face him squarely.
“This is untrue…he is exhibiting the traits of his flagbearer who can openly declare war by saying all die be die…but we are ready for Wontumi, but if he doesn’t take care he won’t take part in this year’s elections” Akalilu said.
