We Just Want To Protect Our Territory- West Hills

The managements of West Hills Mall says all claims that they blocked the entrance to China Mall to stop people from patronising there is false and misleading. ”The least reference made to competitor rivalry the better, because the presence of China Mall provides diversity in the offerings that retailer like ourselves provide and honestly, it is clear that we serve two different markets in these communities”.

In a press statement signed by the Assistant Assets Manager, Olympio Agbodza explains that the action taken by the Mall’s manager was to protect their land. ”In order to fully appreciate the context within which the incident took place, it is important to note that this is simply a case of encroachment by the China Mall on West Hills Mall land and an attempt by malls’s management to secure and protect its land that has been intruded by China Mall during the past couple of months”.

According to the managements of West hills, the Managements of China Mall were engaged before they put rocks at the entrance of China Mall. The action that resulted in the arrest of its Facility Manager, James Mensah and a contractor, Samuel Annum.

The press statement also says that the action taken by James Annum is not about competition as the society claims. The just want to protect their land. ” we therefore reiterate the fact that this is not about competition but about the
protection of one’s property. West Hills Mall believes that laws protecting land ownership in Ghana should be respected”.

James Mensah and Samuel Annum have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry of premises and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and trespassing.
