Violence Erupts on Election Day in Ayomso: NPP Officer Allegedly Attacked by NDC Thugs

Ayomso, a community in the Ahafo Region, has been marred by violence on what should have been a peaceful Election Day. Reports indicate that an officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was brutally assaulted by individuals believed to be associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The attack, which left the victim severely injured, was allegedly carried out by a group known locally as “Salifu 11,” led by a notorious individual identified as Ango. Ango, infamous in the region, was previously accused of firing gunshots during the 2024 limited voter registration exercise in Kukuom.

Eyewitnesses revealed that during the attack, the victim’s mobile phone was destroyed beyond repair, further adding to the frustration and distress caused by the incident.

“This kind of violence has no place in our democratic process,” a concerned voter at one of the polling stations stated. “It’s terrifying and unacceptable.”

The incident has heightened tensions in Ayomso, with many calling for immediate police intervention to ensure the safety of voters and election officials. Leaders of the NPP in the region have condemned the attack, urging law enforcement to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.

Meanwhile, voting continues across Ayomso and other parts of the country, with security agencies closely monitoring the situation. Electoral officials have assured the public that measures are being taken to safeguard the process and ensure that eligible voters can cast their ballots without fear.
