Tsatsu Tsikata Warns Perceived Judiciary Bias Threatens Ghana’s Democracy

Prominent legal practitioner Tsatsu Tsikata has expressed concerns about a rising public perception that Ghana’s judiciary may be favoring the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). Tsikata cautioned that such views could erode trust in the judiciary and undermine Ghana’s democratic foundations.

His remarks follow findings from the 2024 Mo Ibrahim Index on African Governance, which reports a significant drop in Ghana’s judicial independence—from 100% to 50% over the past seven years. Speaking on GHOne TV monitored by pinkfmonlinegh.com , Tsikata emphasized that public confidence is essential to the judiciary’s integrity and warned that these perceptions could damage the credibility of the legal system as a whole.
