Toy Gün Trend: Ghana Police Service Arrests 26 People For Brandishing The Güns Publicly

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 26 people for openly displaying and firing toy guns recklessly in public areas.

This behavior, which is quickly gaining traction in some regions, has raised concerns among the public, leading to fears that it could evolve into more hazardous actions.

An official statement from the police indicates that the arrested suspects are aiding in the ongoing investigations and are expected to appear in court shortly.

During the investigation, authorities have also recovered multiple toy guns from the suspects, indicating that this matter is being treated with seriousness.

The police have initiated targeted operations to find and apprehend additional individuals connected to this rising trend.

The Ghana Police Service expressed deep concern regarding the potential risks that such behavior could pose to public safety, particularly if people start to confuse these toy guns with actual firearms.

In their statement, the police have called on young individuals to avoid participating in such activities, highlighting that discharging toy guns in public infringes upon Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which addresses conduct that could disrupt public peace.

The police emphasized their dedication to maintaining peace and security in our country,” the statement concluded, reaffirming their commitment to public safety. They have also reassured citizens that they are implementing all necessary measures to protect the nation from any disturbances that might threaten the community’s tranquility.
