The Takoradi Divisional Police Command has arrested three persons for faking kidnapping and demanding GHC 5000.
The police made this known in a press statement issued in the early hours of Monday, October 25, 2021.
Joana Krah to stimulate her kidnap made a call to her adopted father demanding GHC 5000.
Her friends, Susana Awortwe and Francis Eshun after further investigations also tend to be suspects.
“The Takoradi Divisional Police Command has arrested three suspects, Joana Krah, aged 29, Susana Awortwe, aged 27, and Francis Eshun, aged 27 for allegedly faking a kidnap and demanding a ransom of Five-Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS5,000.00).
Reports indicate that suspect Joana Krah conspired with the other two suspects, Susana Awortwe and Francis Eshun, to feign her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021, after which a call was placed to her adopted father in demand for the ransom.”
The police says, Joana made a confession for faking her kidnap after a report was made to the police by her adopted father and extensive search began to find her.
“When Joana became aware that her adopted father had reported to the police and an extensive search had commenced to find her,
she showed up at the Takoradi Central Police Station, Saturday, October 23, 2021, to confess of only joking with her adopted father that she was kidnapped.”
These three suspects will face processing for court today, Monday, October 25, 2021.
The police further advises the public to stay away from faking kidnapping for money since it is a crime. Persons who indulge in such acts will face punishment.
“We are further advising the public to desist from the act of faking kidnapping for monetary gains since it is a criminal act. Such perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the state.”
