As Ghanaians we have our way of life.
Mostly it’s the exact opposite of what the world believes. But is that not what makes us Ghanaians. Ghanaians tend to take certain things too serious and just need to relax.
Here are some of those things.
1. Sarcasm or sense of humor
No matter what, just don’t try to be sarcastic to a Ghanaian, they will take it literally and be angry about it for days.
2. Politics
For years, our politicians have disappointed us but Ghanaians follow political parties religiously as if their lives depend on it. They would later complain about these same politicians they put in power.
3. Religion
We all believe in one faith, being it Christianity or Islam but Ghanaians will do anything to rub their religion in the face of others, trying to prove that other religions are “wack” except theirs.
4. Peculiar Pastors
Talking about religion, there are some pastors who have given several reasons to prove they are not from God but Ghanaians continue to follow these men of God for miracles.
5. Latest Gadgets
It’s good to own latest gadgets but they come at an expense. Most Ghanaians do not mind emptying their banks for the latest iPhone in town.
6. White collar jobs
Ghanaians do not mind working at big firms even if the wages are meagre, the prestige that comes with these jobs is enough for most Ghanaians.
7. Criticism
The other name for criticism, according to Ghanaians, is “hating”. Once you voice your displeasure about someone or something, you are automatically labeled a hater. Geez! Some also assume you’re jealous of them when you criticize them.
8. The Opinions Of Others
Don’t we all have opinions? But it’s as if some people just feel superior or think they have all the answers, one can’t voice their opinions about stuff without getting attacked. It’s like everybody is supposed to agree to one thing. In another breath, Ghanaians take opinions of others too seriously, making them not follow things through because people didn’t support them.
9. Skin color
In Ghana, some people are treated special than others because of their skin color. Being light-skinned is becoming like gold, which has led to many women bleaching their skin.
10. Tribe
Where you are from in Ghana means a lot, in fact, being from some tribes could ruin your life or make you. Are we all not Ghanaians?
11. Certifications
Don’t get me wrong, education is key but it’s not the only way to success. There are some Ghanaians who will school the best parts of their lives, for years, to get all the certifications possible .. come on!
12. Awards
There are several awards in Ghana and it’s sad to say that none of these awards are based on merit or are credible. There are several rumors of people buying awards in Ghana. Awards in Ghana are purely business for organizers.
13. Titles
In Ghana, it’s like people live for titles, we have people giving themselves all sorts of titles, president of this, king of that, god of this, Dr. who etc., but since when did titles pay bills?
14. Holidays
We know most Ghanaians get tired of work but it’s as if Ghanaians live for holidays, Ghanaians make a big deal about holidays even if it’s just for a day.
15. Where you are from
One of the first questions you get asked by fellow Ghanaians is where you are from, just like tribalism, it’s means a lot to others. Sometimes people get disrespected or respected outright based on where they are from. Reason still unknown
16. Big buttocks
Females with big buttocks get all the attention from men, this has made many women insecure enough to artificially enhance what God gave them.
17. Sex
9 out of every 10 grown Ghanaians are having sex but talking about the subject is prohibited.
18. Traveling Abroad
Traveling abroad is considered success in Ghana, reason still unknown.
