Sudan striker John Manu has expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness for their 2025 AFCON qualifier against Ghana, stating that they are not feeling any pressure to secure a positive result. The Falcons will face the Black Stars in the first leg of their doubleheader today at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Manu, who plays for Al-Ahli Benghazi, emphasized the calmness within the squad: “Sudan is not a new team in this kind of competition, having once won the AFCON. We have beaten Ghana before to qualify for the AFCON, so there is no pressure. We are very calm, and we are well prepared for this match.”
Expressing his admiration for Ghanaian football, Manu added, “I am very happy to be in Ghana, and actually my favourite player is Asamoah Gyan. I am honoured to play in front of his family, and I am proud to play like him.”
When discussing the impact of their coach, Kwesi Appiah, Manu praised the experience he brings to the team, stating that the changes Appiah has implemented have been beneficial.
The highly anticipated match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT, with the return leg scheduled for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. Sudan currently sits 2nd in Group F with three points, while Ghana has just one point.
