Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, born Michael Owusu Addo, has filed a lawsuit against Ecobank Ghana Limited for purportedly using his image without authorization.
A court document that has been shared online indicates that the lawsuit was submitted to the Commercial Division of the High Court in Accra.
Sarkodie alleges that the bank used an image that closely resembles him in an advertisement without his consent, which he argues amounts to a violation of his intellectual property rights.
The award-winning musician asserts that Ecobank’s use of his likeness has caused both reputational damage and financial loss.
