The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has highlighted gaps in Ghana’s current legal framework for fighting corruption, calling for more robust laws.
Speaking at a forum in Accra on Thursday, November 14, Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Evaluation, and Communication at the OSP, stressed that the country’s existing laws are fragmented and ineffective in addressing corruption thoroughly.
“Ghana has many laws, but they are not efficient,” Darko noted, adding that the pending Conduct of Public Officers’ Bill lacks specifics such as gift limitations, which are standard in other countries.
He emphasized that without these critical elements, any new legislation could become ineffectual.
