Road Projects to Continue Despite Ghana Highway Authority Strike – Roads Ministry

The Ministry of Roads and Highways assures the public that road projects will proceed uninterrupted despite an ongoing strike by Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) workers. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Ahmed Nasir Yartey, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, explained that projects are managed by independent contractors under strict contracts and supervised by external consultants, creating a buffer against disruptions from the GHA strike.

While acknowledging workers’ concerns, Yartey called for peaceful dialogue, expressing confidence that discussions, guided by the Labour Commission, will lead to an amicable solution.

The strike protests the National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118) and demands the removal of two key officials: Ing. I.K. Mensah, GHA Board Chairman, and Ing. Collins B. Donkor, Chief Executive Officer of the NRA.
