Real Madrid have been shocked by the news of a terrorist attack at one of their supporters clubs in Iraq, just a day before the first team plays Deportivo La Coruna for a chance of winning the La Liga title.
16 people are known to have died in the atrocity with another 20 injured, and it’s feared that the number of deaths could rise in the coming hours.
Gunmen apparently entered the room where Los Blancos fans were gathered and randomly opened fire.
The shooting took place at a cafe called Al Furat in the city of Balad, north of Baghdad, where the Real Madrid supporter’s club usually meet, one of the members informed EFE and the club later confirmed.
According to the news agency Amaq, which is associated with the Jihadi group, ISIS are responsibile for the attack.
