Place Adequate Importance On Weather Reports In Farm Work Activities – Farmers Implored

Farmers in the country have been advised never to ignore daily weather reports given by climate experts and weather forecasters, but pay critical attention to such information in their routine crop cultivations.

Ms. Victoria Abankwa, the Agric Director for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region made this assertion at the annual anniversary launch ceremony of the Groundnut Growers Association (Komenda Zone), dubbed, “Championing Agriculture Through Innovation, Investment and Resilience.”

The advice follows the conceived mentality of most Ghanaian farmers for previously experiencing inaccurate weather reports by the country’s meteorological agency. Hence, their slow urge to present times weather reports offered.

Speaking in an interview to journalists, Ms. Victoria Abankwa, admonished Ghana to have adopted the path of modernizing agriculture, which emerges unattainable without the consideration of daily weather updates, and that, charged farmers in the country to pay outmost attention to daily weather information.

Emmanuel Acquah, Chairman of the Groundnut Growers Association (Komenda Zone), remarked the plight members of the association often goes through in cultivating their farm produce, coupled with the association’s dying need of working equipment.

He appealed on leadership of the municipality to come to the aid of the association with tractor services to assist in their crop cultivation.

In an address delivered on behalf of the Chairperson for the ceremony, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and the Member of Parliament for KEEA, Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills by the former MCE of the municipality, Hon. Ismail Saeed Zagoon, he recounted the duo’s unflinching willingness to support the association.

This follows a donation of assorted items by the two to the association at the ceremony, which comprises 25 bags of rice, 10 bags of fertilizer, 10 boxes of tomatoes, 3 bags of sugar, 5 boxes of tin fish, 5 boxes of frytol oil, 5 boxes of soap, 30 packs of bottle water, 50 bags of sachet water, loafs of bread, assorted fruits, plus a cash donation.
